The Enemy FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour

The Enemy were back as they headlined the Coke Cola sponsored FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour at Earls Court 2 in London yesterday (March 11). Sporting a funky new hair cut and a sound that just gets better and better, The Enemy were on top form as they powered through a selection of tracks from 'We'll Live And Die In These Towns' and 'Music For The People'.

As the FIFA World Cup Trophy stood on display in Earls Court 2 - Tom Clarke, Andy Hopkins and Liam Watts blasted the venue with their blend of rock 'n' roll tunes that would be well suited on the football terraces of the World Cup. Tom Clarke jokingly asked the crowd if they had seen Wayne Rooney (he had been giving a press conference earlier in the day) saying, "tell him he needs a shave!"

During the set Tom paid tribute to the striking civil servants, dedicating 'It's Not OK' to them. Other songs included: 40 Days And 40 Nights, Pressure, Away From Here, Be Somebody, Had Enough, Happy Birthday Jane and No Time For Tears.

For those who have seen The Enemy @ Birmingham before, don't forget the gig on Thursday night (26/11/09) is being held at O2 Academy Birmingham, 16-18 Horsefair, Bristol Street, Birmingham, B1 1DB (used to be located at 52-54 Dale End).

I've got a feeling some people will turn up at the old Carling Academy (I would have been one of them if I hadn't checked it out first!!)

P.S. For those who are not at the gig but are in the Midlands, Emma Skipp will be performing an acoustic set at The Saracens Head in Shirley from 9pm.

Anyone who was at the Pompey gig last night were treated to a great set. The crowd in there was awesome. It was like a riot! Ive still got the bruises to show for it. Andy participated to some crowd surfing. Tom remarked how it was the best crowd of the tour! The missus got 1 of Liams drum sticks too......

Well if Tom has a sore throat?..it didn't show tonite...they were fucking mega!!!!...just got back covered in beer & other liquids ( too scared to sniff!!!) they brought on a piper halfway through( Nice touch!!) Akeal & General Fiasco were the support bands..both played well. :D

The Enemy supported the mighty Oasis at the iTunes Festival in London tonight (21/07/09). The event was being held at the Roundhouse in Camden and Tom Clarke encouraged fans to get involved saying, "This is a rock 'n' roll gig, not a tea party!" The iTunes crowd responded by singing along to 'Away From Here' and Tom was clearly enjoying the atmosphere as he said, "That is a bit more f**king like it London."

Tom later asked fans if they were looking forward to Oasis to which he said in response, "You sound half asleep, you need to get some f**king beer down ya!" The crowds cheered louder and were in fine voice during 'We'll Live And die in These Towns'.

There was a special shout-out to XFM radio as Tom dedicated 'Happy Birthday Jane' to them saying, "Thanks to XFM, who backed us from the very early days." Another loud cheer went up as Tom thanked Oasis for having them as support, with that the final track was performed and Oasis took over as the next performers at the iTunes Festival.

Went to see oasis on saturday and the enemy were supporting. Was concerned as on thursday they didn't play due to the food poisoning incident. The enemy were playing after twisted wheel and before kasabian. They were absolutely amazing! I was looking forward to them playing so much and they did not let me down, i think they should have been given the slot that Kasabian had. The enemy performed with so much more energy and really got the crowd going, whereas Kasabian played songs which seemed to bore the audience.

I would defenalty recommend to any fan of the enemy to go and book tickets because they are simply brilliant. I have already booked tickets to see them in sheffield in november and i cannot wait!

Need to book my train ticket but undecided which route to take (the simple journey: faversham to london, then london to brighton for £30 including insurance or the more complex journey: faversham to canterbury, canterbury to ashford, ashford to brighton for £20 including insurance).

after tom clarke sed that oasis no longer needed to play but only did it for the love, it was interpreted by liam gallagher as oasis were past it prompting liam to go mad on his twitter asking tom clarke 'do you want to go on first, you little fucker?'.

how will this affect the atmosphere on the tour, will the enemy be put on first as i think wud be quite amusing for them to respond by saying ok and opening the show.

"THIS is the best crowd - and the best venue - in Britain," yells frontman Tom Clarke.

And, as the sell-out crowd sing their hearts out to every word of old favourites like Aggro and Away From Here, it's hard to disagree with him.

Much of the excitement tonight though centres on the unveiling of material from the forthcoming album Music For The People - revealed in detail for the first time in last week's A-Listed.

Lead single No Time For Tears is clearly a hit with the fans. They already seem to know every word. But there are warm welcomes for the ballad-y Sing When You're In Love and the bruising, riff-heavy Elephant Song.

On the evidence of those, the new record is likely to make you fall in love with the Coventry trio all over again.

Powerhouse drummer Liam Watts hammers out beats so ferocious we're beginning to suspect he's had a turbo-charger fitted since the tours for We'll Live And Die In These Towns.

Andy Hopkins is just as big a presence, drilling out basslines with the kind of tough precision that recalls Bruce Foxton at the height of The Jam's powers.

They finish with the battle cry of You're Not Alone, sending the already up-for-it crowd over the edge.

Tonight, and every night, The Enemy really are a band for the people.

I registered for tickets last year and the year before but no joy. Not sure if i will again this year. Anyone else gonna try and go? I think last year there was something like 120,000 ticket registration which is mental.
